Dr. Hodges approaches medical weight loss from a more comprehensive approach. At your initial consultation, Dr. Hodges will develop a customized plan for you.
To achieve optimal results, she combines:
There are several medications on the market today. Typically, patients can lose 10-15% of their excess body weight from medication alone. Dr. Hodges will determine the best medication based on your medical history.
However, Dr. Hodges believes that simply taking medication is not a prescription for success! By including medication as a part of a more comprehensive weight loss program, patients can better achieve and maintain their weight loss goals.
Dr. Hodges uses the REEVUE for metabolic testing. The REEVUE measures the oxygen that the body consumes. Using this measurement, it calculates a patient’s Resting Energy Expenditure (REE), commonly referred to as a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR).
The results of your REEVUE testing allow Dr. Hodges to screen for abnormally low metabolic rates and pinpoint the precise caloric intake required for weight loss, maintenance, or weight gain.
The REEVUE is:
Once your REEVUE testing is complete, we will refer you to one of the leading bariatric nutritionists. The nutritionist can help develop an eating plan to best fit your needs. Whether you desire to lose weight, maintain weight or train for that race you always wanted to win, we can help with an individualized plan just for you!
Perhaps the most important and most effective tool in our non-surgical weight loss plan is participation in our behavioral counseling program and support groups. Dr. Collins Hodges is among the few licensed clinical psychologists in the DFW area trained to work in the area of weight loss. He leads both our behavioral program as well as all of our support groups. After your initial consultation, we will schedule your first session with Dr. Hodges. His mindful eating program helps people recognize and examine the thoughts, feelings, and triggers behind mindless eating. Dr. Hodges provides a unique perspective since he has struggled with obesity and has undergone weight loss surgery.
Support Groups are open to the public and meet the first Monday of each month at our Irving location. To learn more click here.
